Hi Scarlett and Gracie. I would say the shooting stars are two or three types First Shooting stars are very old bits of rock, These float around in space. When they get near a plant. The gravity from the plant pull them in. Mostly they break up in the plants atmosphere. Thats what you see when looking up at the sky. The shooting star breaking up. Second Theres a comet, these are slightly large and travel in an orbit around the solar system. Theres one famous one called Haylee's, which visit us everything 100 years (Check up comets) Third and I guess the worst one is a meteorite. These come from space, They where made when our Galaxy was formed many Billions of years ago. They just travel around and eventually heat a planet or moon. If you look at our moon you can see lots of holes called craters. Over the year Earth has been hit by at least four. Two of which did cause mass destruction. (See extinction of the Dinosaurs) I hope this information is helpful.
